Recessional


Acolytes

Assist clergy by performing a number of important functions before, during and at the close of the worship service. Open to adults and young men and women of the church in the fourth grade and older.

 

Altar Guild

 Prepares the altar and sanctuary for daily, weekly and special services and is responsible for cleaning, repairing and purchasing clergy vestments and altar linens. Replaces candles, washes and polishes the silver used at the altar. Arranges the flowers at worship services, celebrations and funerals.

 

Chalice Bearers

 With the approval of the rector, the chalice bearers assist the clergy at the altar during distribution of the Eucharist. They are men and women members of the church who have received special training to perform this important service.

 

Eucharistic Visitors

Lay men and women licensed and entrusted with the distribution of the sacrament to those unable to be physically present at celebrations of the Eucharist.

 

Greeters

Individuals, couples and families who welcome members and visitors, and present the elements at Sunday morning worship services.

 

Layreaders

Open to middle school age children through adults, lay readers participate in the worship service by the reading of the Old and New Testament lessons, Psalms and Prayers of the People. They may be called upon forf special readings at services such as Lessons and Carols.

 

Ushers

Men, women and youth 12 and older who assist in the worship service by greeting people as they arrive, providing service bulletins, assisting handicapped persons, and receiving and presenting the congregational offering.
